No. 9: Fried Egg - 23.1.12

Nearly finished on how to make perfect variations of eggs from Gizzi Erskine’s Kitchen Magic”!!! I came home from uni not so long ago and decided I couldn’t really be bothered making anything amazing for dinner so I decided on fried egg and chips!
Firstly I heated 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a frying pan till hot but not smoking hot! I cracked 1 large free range egg into a ramekin and poured it onto the hot oil. This is to make the egg crisp up and fry instead of poach in the oil. When the whole thing is nearly set I used a spoon to base the oil over the top of the egg yolk to make sure it was cooked! When done I placed on some kitchen roll to drain and seasoned.
It was quite nice :) I haven’t had a fried egg in a while so was a nice change! However I think I should have heated the pan a bit more before adding the egg and the bottom wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked it to be! Although, overall it was a scrummy egg! It was soft and the yolk was runny and tasted delicious!!!
